INNSE – INDUSTRIAL ACTION IN MILAN

INNSE is a metallurgical industry factory on the outskirts of Milan. In 2009, a months long industry action by the factory workers culminated in few of them barricading themselves inside the factory on an overhead crane, on which they stayed for a week. Meanwhile, their supporters kept a protest going on in front of the factory, while the police guarded the gates. After the negotiations, the owner agreed to sell the factory instead of closing it and the workers all kept their jobs.

In 2017, certain developments in the factory management made the workers mount a protest again; besides some court cases (won by the workers, even though they weren't allowed to return to work again), the workers and their supporters kept a permanent demonstration site outside the factory gates.
